Thomas Bucci
Thomas Bucci is a watercolor painter based in Coastal Maine. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and a Master’s degree in Architecture. After working for eight years as a practicing architect, Tom transitioned to painting full-time, where he found his true creative voice in watercolor. Since then he has developed a national reputation for his expressive, design-driven work. A background that bridges both design and fine art, informs his approach to composition and storytelling.
Thomas has received more than 70 awards in juried National Plein Air Competitions and Watercolor Society Exhibitions. His accolades include the Edgar A. Whitney Memorial Award of Excellence from the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the Silver Brush Award of Excellence at the American Impressionist Society’s National Exhibition, the John N. Lewis Memorial Award and the Ogden Pleissner Award at the Salmagundi Club’s Annual Members Exhibitions, and the Best Architecture Award at PleinAir Easton, one of the most prestigious plein air events in the country.
He is a Signature Member of The National Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the Watercolor Honor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society, and an Elected Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club of NY. His work has been featured in Plein Air Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, and the Art Renewal Center publications.
