Carolyn Lord
California native, Carolyn Lord has been a "plein air" artist since her student years at Principia College, Illinois. Her early career was influenced by the 20th Century California Watercolor Style of Millard Sheets and his peers which featured bold color and strong design. Lord's mid-career work has been focused on vernacular architecture, landscapes and gardens. Following study at Golden Gate Atelier, Oakland, aspects of Tonalism and Impressionism have been integrated into her watercolors and oils, painted plein air or in the studio.
Carolyn Lord’s paintings are represented in California, Utah, and Colorado galleries, exhibited in juried and invitational exhibitions, and she has participated in plein air events. A few career highlights include: Maynard Dixon Country, Crested Butte Plein Air Invitational and American Tonalist Society’s 2020 Online Showcase.
